Today we began our Singapore trip by visiting the new Apple Store on Orchard Road, the only Apple Store in SE Asia
Crisp - that's the word to describe the open spaces, symmetrical lines of devices and similarly uniformed Apple specialists and genius staff. Downstairs is a showcase of all the main devices - watches, iPads, laptops, Beats headphones and a plethora of peripherals. Upstairs is a super-large LED screen with high-definition video cycling through the day. Gathered around workbenches are groups of students and professionals; these people have booked in for 'any project' sessions where they can get their software or hardware questions answered by one of the Apple staff on hand.
We spent some time chatting to the staff, checking out the devices and learning about their training - each person is trained for their role and each staff member has beaten 100s of others who had applied for the same position.
After the Apple Fest we jumped on the MRT and landed in Little India, to sample some delicious mango lasi, tandoori chicken, chicken tika masala and butter naan... life is tough.
Tonight we met Preeti from the EDUTech Conference and join the other Google Award winners for dinner. A jam-packed day that began at 4AM.
