I love learning tips and tricks for software, especially presentation software like PowerPoint. These tips usually save time and make information more accessible for viewers. I stumbled upon Taylor and Camille's nutsandboltsspeedtraining.com and their free video based course for 4 Weird-Little PowerPoint Hacks. Each video is only a few minutes, so easily digestable and applicable. Because I have an Office 365 account, I have the latest version of Office products all the time; even though your version might be older, the techniques can still apply.
So, the following is my use of just one of the many tips I learned while viewing their course - to be clear, while I was learning from their course I figured these two out as well as learning their other tips to save time and be more effective when creating presentations. Please note, the start of the video is clipped for some reason, so to be clear, this is PPT 2016. This is not a full or complete tutorial on PowerPoint, just 2 quick tips.
The following is their promo video for the course - it's free and I don't get any payment for letting you know about it:
